The Port of Tarragona holds the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) Workshop

On the19th September, 2014 the Port of Tarragona was the scene of the first workshop for members of the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA), the entity succeeding the European Port Community System Association (EPCSA). The general director of the Port of Tarragona, Francesc Sánchez, welcomed the attendees and explained the potentials of port infrastructures, as well as future challenges for development.
Within the framework of this seminar, also presented was the European project Promotion of Port Community System in Mediterranean Traffic (MED-PCS), which has lead and coordinated the Port of Tarragona for over a year with the objective of improving efficiency in maritime transport. This project is an initiative of the European Union, which works towards effective implementation of what is known as the Port Community Systems of the four member ports of this project: Cartegena Port Authority, Levante Port Authority (Italy), Igoumenista Port Authority (Greece), together with the Tarragona Port Authority.
At this IPCSA members workshop debates took place regarding issues relative to both Port Community Systems and the initiative “Track and Trace”.
IPCSA integrates various operators of Port Community Systems.
Furthermore, on the 18th September, 2014 the Executive Committee of IPCSA met at the Port of Tarragona to deal with management issues relative to IPCSA and to revise a number of further proposals.
